New Arts Youth Committee Seeking Members
The Galway Arts Centre are currently endeavouring to set up a board of young people associated with the Galway Arts Centre that is run by young people for young people. They envision that the board will take ownership and enable young people to make the decisions from the idea stage of a project to the realisation.
To participate in the birth of Galway Arts Centre’s first Arts Youth Committee will give any young person who has a desire to work in the Arts an unprecedented opportunity to experience how the Arts work as a business while obtaining skills through arts workshops and talks.
Those involved would learn the basics of administration for the arts and be involved in mentored workshops with professionals from Visual Art, Theatre , Dance , Film and much more.
We are looking for ten to fifteen young people to form this committee. We hope to find youths with a keen interest in the Arts and that are eager to be part of something new and exciting in Galway City.
The age restrictions are 14-23, Those selected will use us the arts workers as facilitators.
Louise Manifold Visual Artist will be the first professional Artist to work with the newly formed committee.
If you find that you are interested in getting involved with this project please contact me Fiona Hession the Galway Arts Centre Youth Committee’s Coordinator at fionahession@gmail.com

The Literary and Debating Society of NUI Galway will be hosting a Transgender Panel Discussion which will take place in NUI Galway on Thursday 29 September from 7pm in the Kirwan’s Theatre, Arts Concourse, NUI, Galway.
The motion for the debate will be ‘That this house believes we were born this way’. The motion itself is intended to be quite broad so as to allow the speakers to explore the various issues relating to transgender experience.
TENI will be taking part in the discussion, represented by TENI Board Member Dr Tanya Ni Mhuirthile and gender identity counsellor Bernie Fitzgerald.
‘Out and Proud’
hi
we have nearly completed the shOUT! anti homophobic documentary and we have received great comments, to add to the quality of the documentary we are looking for someone who is out and proud to participate in the documentary. we would like one or two people to talk about ‘coming out’ and tell us how they overcame the challenges and can see how well they are doing now.
we would like them to be able to reach out to other young people and let them know that there is hope and they can have positive friendships, find love and happiness in their lives.
this means that they will talk in front of camera and be comfortable knowing that this will be shown around Ireland.
if you would like to get involved please contact Garry on 087 320 4575 e; shout.outreach@gmail.com for more information
